Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,

according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Our story

Eric and I were high school sweethearts. We married after college in 2008, and we both began working in hospitals in the Jackson, MS area. I was a pediatric nurse, and Eric worked on the tech side of things. It didn’t take us very long to realize that we wanted a simpler life. I was able to cut back on my hours in 2010, and our first son was born in 2011.

It wasn’t until 2013, when we were living in a small subdivision on 1/4 acre, that we began to think about really living a different sort of life. We wanted to leave the rat race, slow our pace, and create a life we didn’t need a vacation from.

Three years passed. Three years of building our tiny homestead inside city limits on a quarter of an acre. Three years of learning what we could where we were. Three years of praying and dreaming and believing that this life we wanted would continue to grow and thrive. We had another baby, a little girl, and we were expecting another baby in the summer.

A desire fulfilled…

Then, it happened. We found a house on just under 4 acres, moved almost 2 hours south, and grew our dream. I now stay home with our 4 children, and Eric is able to work from home with system of hospitals based in Florida. This little life we’ve carved out would not be possible without God walking us through every step of the way.

If you’re dreaming of a different life for your family, don’t give up. It’s a worthy pursuit, and it doesn’t have to look like 40 acres and a brand new home. Sometimes it’s just a little house on a few acres that allows your dreams to come alive. Sometimes it's a small backyard or balcony.
